Writing and editing science and news articles, educational classroom materials and product copy to specified style rules including Associated Press style and SEO optimization. Published feature writer.

Courseware Developer, MindLeaders, Inc., 1/2008 – 1/2009

Created interactive online courses covering various applications such as the MS Office suite, Lotus, etc., working from outlines provided by content analysts. Wrote course overview questions. Used MS Word and PowerPoint with complex proprietary coding to produce sequences of HTML pages using Adobe Flash. Made and edited screen captures, set clickable hot spots. Wrote glossaries for several courses.

Technical Writer, Pacer Global Logistics, 12/2004 - 8/2007

Hired after service as a consultant. Assigned to the Information Technology Program Management Office, responsible for maintaining a catalog of process and training documentation related to the Systems Delivery Life Cycle and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Converted department policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and other documents to Web format for distribution.

Maintained reference materials including databases tracking work order progress.

Consultant, TEK Systems, 5/2004 - 12/2004

Created documentation for client compliance to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act at a freight logistics company. Used MS Word and Visio to document business processes, network flowcharts and data maps, access control methodology, Web-based and EDI transactions. Used PowerPoint and assorted image-processing software to produce classroom training presentations. Created general and specific glossaries defining SDLC business terms unique to that client's business effort.

Senior Documentation/Training Analyst, American Systems Consulting, Inc. 1999 - 2003

Created document templates to standardize company documents; produced online and hardcopy training materials for company employees; advised administration on technical writing principles and practices.

Created classroom and online training materials for the company's Support group, also delivered classroom training. Provided client-site classroom training for a Department of Defense agency. Used MS Word and Visio to document client software systems that had never been fully documented before.

Documented Web-based interfaces, and published documents on a Web-based Government server. These required extensive research into existing fragmentary documentation, and consulting with developers.

Became certified and experienced as an Internal Auditor for the company's successful ISO 9000:2000 certification effort.

Volunteer Work

Chair of the Friends of the Scioto River, 2006 – Current

Chief Executive Officer of a 501(c)(3) non-profit watershed advocacy group. Responsible for the group’s relationships with governmental agencies, residents, regional planning bodies, and volunteer groups. Producing all documentation including business record databases, publicity materials, presentations and articles, Web content.

Initial Chair of the Central Ohio Watershed Council, 2012

One-year term. Chief executive of an umbrella organization of local non-profit watershed groups and government agencies. Coordinated startup and mission of the group. Currently serving as Comminucations Director, responsible for organizational communications.

Chair of Editorial Committee of the Council of Graduate Students at The Ohio State University, 87-90

Principal writer for and Editor of [i]the Graduate Voice[/i], (the CGS news magazine). Set schedules, designed publication, maintained printer contacts, adhered to budget and reported to student government.
